I generally just go with default, but if I have to choose I like the brighter themes.

dark theme wherever its possible. i somewhat feel like im on pornhub though when i use the dark youtube theme

For what? Retro? I go with the default. I don't like light themes, but calibrating the brightness/contrast on some screens can be difficult, while dark is preferred under some circumstances it's very difficult to read.

sam colors http://sam.cat-v.org/ olive, cyan, manilla, teal, and black text. Any other color palette is inferior.

Light themes are great. I have a hard time reading light text on dark backgrounds.
