It's all a sham - a thin layer of bullshit holding everything together ... more superficial manners and politeness and less actual concern for our fellow man, less actually standing up for the vulnerable, not at the cost of ripping through the layer of bullshit, and certainly not at the cost of their own personal comfort

I fear the easy times are over. The world as such is facing big changes that cause economical and social unrest and turmoil. I think I do see a tendency to more rudeness, to more primitive behaviour and more uncivilized habits due to this.
Neither.
I think society has a sick way of always making something worse while things are also getting better. Like we can’t just be better without making things worse at the same time. But I’d like to at least hope it’s 2 steps forward and only 1 step back…. so maybe a very slight amount more pleasant. A long way to go though.
Less. People are less healthy and more obese; companies are getting better and better at hacking our brains to get us to buy their crap; products have lower quality; we have people policing words and canceling people for unimportant reasons; the current generation is finding it impossible to afford a living; people are more politically divided than ever; the disparity between the rich and the poor is increasing; companies are gaining more and more control over government and regulation; the news is no longer expected to tell the truth; society has eroded enough and people are becoming fascist enough that it's actually possible for someone like Trump to become President; people have lost their minds regarding gender; pretending it's meaningless and trying to abolish it; it's one crisis after another these days; we're destroying the biosphere mare and more at an exponential rate and won't stop until civilization collapses, which will probably be relatively soon, so there's that to worry about
More pleasant. I only know a limited number of people, and my notion of society is based on them. As I get older, I get to meet more people, who in turn tend to be connected to the ones I already know. And since I mostly like the people I already know, that means I keep getting to know good people.
