re Bleach novels :
yeah , I pretty much agree with everything you've said
don't really care about the novels - only care about the fact that Rukia's on the covers of a handful of them and that Orihime has 0 even though she's the supposed main female character / heroine / love interest since day 1 as her fans like to say
where's the actual content though to fortify that ? the merch ? etc.

oh , and I do think Hisagi's kind of overrated
great design - but not enough content for me to get invested in - especially in the final arc - which is pretty much what we can say about a lot of Bleach characters in general
We're all petty but extremely satisfied at the lack of content featuring the "one true heroine" so you should know you're not alone. I mean, so far I haven't seen any other series where the supposed "main girl" gets so pushed aside for events, merch and ads... sometimes I almost, ALMOST feel bad for her fans. But what can I say, not all of us can have good taste.
I wouldn't be able to tell you much about Hisagi as a character aside from the fact that he just lives chasing other people's backs, first it was Kensei, then it was Tousen and in the end all he got was disappointment because they weren't the exact same as the versions of them that he created inside his head. He likes... Rangiku and bikes? And that's it?
I guess CFYOW might flesh him out a bit more but like I said, if you couldn't make me interested in him in the manga I'm not going to read a whole novel just to see if there's anything of value there, especially when said novel is a fix-it fic that simply complicates things further.
