Who here has had online teaching, classes, courses and can tell if that actually works with pupils? I must now consider this as an option to tutor a girl I do care for who must learn things for exams.

Im old and grew up during dial up internet so there were no online courses for me😄I think it can be very beneficial. I'm very pro online teaching. I've said this on here I was traumatized by the American school system. In my version of a utopia I would allow kids to be 100% taught online 🙂

I'm in a blended course right now, I'm going to try a 100% online one in the fall, we'll see how it goes, but I suspect I am going to be fine - I think people learn differently and a miscreant like me is probably better off without human contact. Some people are just going to learn better in person though, so it's hard to say

Other than not being able to connect at the scheduled time and/or having an unstable connection, I think online learning works fine.

As Cloud mentioned, I think it is by far better when it is one on one vs a group.

1 on 1 online teaching is very similar to face to face teaching. It’s when teaching a bigger set of students that the dynamic completely changes. Key is to make everyone feel seen. You also need to encourage participation - whether it’s vocal, via chat, or in the form of “polls.” I have employed the “wheel of names” a few times to pick “volunteers” but always give them the option of passing it.
