Usually on a dating site, so it's more acceptable. Even on those, though, I don't really ask them out - I just try to start conversation. It never lasts long. I've never asked a girl out in person, too shy. I asked one girl out on Facebook by saying, "maybe we should hang out sometime." She kinda likes me and we have a little bit of history. She hasn't responded, though. Another time I messaged her she responded months later.
I don't ask out girls that I'm interested in because I don't date and don't want to date.
Aren't you asking about asking people out for dating/relationships? I don't want a relationship. Therefore, I don't date or ask people out and don't try to befriend girls with similar interests hoping it would turn into a relationship. I don't try to get to know people for the sake of friendships either. I keep to myself.
You could have other motives. Like sex, prey, heritage, social exercise, get to know the enemy. To name but a few?
I don't pursue sex, relationships or friendships. I'm a loner and keep to myself unless there's a reason to talk to people.
I'm so bad at socializing with people that I probably end up asking my friends to set me up with someone! More importantly, I need to be around more people, especially girls, so that there is a chance of sparking a romantic relationship or whatever.

Not at all. I mean, I'm weird at flirting. I think my approaches of flirting are not understood.
Another experience we share. My flirting is also often unnoticed or ignored or misunderstood.
My way of flirting is when I somehow get very extrovert and try to be funny. I also complimented someone's converse all stars while me all blushy as a flirt start but sadly it didn't work.
That sounds like not different from many other people. We all do it like this more or less. We all get excited and as a result a bit overboard in the presence of a crush or love interest.
This is very normal. But it is also normal we cannot look behind the forehead of other people and detect if they like us or not. it is also quite common that people detect our emotion but cannot return the feeling. As this gives them uneasy feelings they cover this by acting as if they do not understand. It is a means to avoid a direct rejection. Which is good as it protects us from ever more bad feelings. But it is also frustrating. I know.

I tattooed 'hey you wanna go out?' on my arm and just roll up the sleeve when it's time 🤡 really I just kinda use the direct approach, I prefer to suggest a specific thing to do rather than just asking for her number - like if we're talking about the duck boats or indoor skydiving or whatever I'll ask if she wants to join me some time
Sounds good to me. I'll think about that tattoo trick though. In one of the fancy and otherworldly bars in Antwerpes ( women only sign on the door ) one girl hat a battery powered LED nacklace. When switched on it read: Kiss Me! I thought that to be clever and cute but I also felt it to be sloppy and slutty the same time. That club phased out of fashion soon afterwards. They had the best music and DJs but the guests weren't the nicest, I always objected the "women only" sign.
Hm, that's an...interesting concept - did that bar have a reputation as a gay bar? or was it a place that was more of a 'safe space' for women in general?
it started as a lesbian gay bar aiming to also provide a safe club for us but deteriorated soon to a pick up a fling girl spot.
I like to be direct, but there are circumstances where the latter might be more appropriate
I suppose that I would just her out on a very casual date at first. Perhaps coffee or lunch and maybe a walk somewhere pretty. No pressure while we get to know each other.
The no-pressure stance is good advice but hard to do when you are in the middle of an earthquake size crush! :)
