Studies show that when people voice an opinion, it reinforces their belief in it. By simply saying something you become more convinced of it. Do you think some of the "idiosyncrasies" of online discourse can be explained by this phenomena?

The phenomena is more of a byproduct or result, no? There is a bit of unusual theatrics that emerge in digital discourse that aim to capture or exploit the audience, unlike real-world discourse.
