Why did your art degrade so badly
this is not an ask about my oc's, but i'll play along.
there could be a lot of reasons for this, and a lot of it could be chalked up to the effect that doing commission work since i was 17 would naturally erode away my drive and creativity, and i combat that by keeping my art as personalized to myself as possible, sometimes at the expense of technicality and trying to appease general eyes. if someone commissions me, that pic is for them, and i want them to be as happy with it as possible. if i draw something for myself, then im the only person that drawing is aimed towards. this of course is horrible for algorithm and growth, especially for somewhere like twitter, but i also try not to extend myself far beyond my current "sphere" and prefer to be discovered by likeminded artists and supporters with similar interests as me.
digital pics of mine that were more popular from 2020-2022 were capable of being technically impressive and detail oriented in a way that i can no longer emulate, but the point of a lot of what i drew was usually at mine and others expense, and were fleeting grabs at trends and shock-material that pulled a fleeting parasocial audience. i would draw something as grotesque as possible, slap-on some current buzzword or a popular character in porn, and call it a day. there's also a chance that you have no idea what "era" i am talking about, because ive been drawing since i was fucking born.
im not proud of where i am technically either, but im much closer to where i want to be than before, and i feel i finally have a ground to work off of, that nothing but shitty indulgent sketches and overambitious collaborations with my sister could do the heavy-lifting for. im trying to protect something, i guess. for better or for worse.
