I'm 8 days late, but I wanted to reply to your take on Good Luck, Babe! I'm the same nonnie who sent the first message, btw. I'm almost always with you in your interpretation of things, but this time I wanted to share with you why I'm not. I don't think the song "presents women who marry men as something to be pitied." The song is talking to someone in particular who's never brave enought to choose to be happy. This person settles for the "norm." She marries a man she doesn't love instead of going with what's really calling to her, because she never admits to others what's really going on with this other woman. I don't think it points fingers to women who marry men, it's just talking about this particular someone. u.u
The song tells the story from one of the women's point of view, and how she feels frustrated with the whole situation. How she sees the woman she's in love with just fooling around with men to try to convince herself that what's going on between the two of them is not really that serious. She knows it's not healthy, she knows that she should end things and that she deserves better. But she's in love. And she stays.

You're obviously entitled to your own opinion and this will probably not change your feelings about the song, but I wanted to point all of this out. u u

nonnie i appreciate your patience and kindness but also why did you think i didn't know the meaning of the song? x) if anything, it makes it worse for me. the line about 'nothing more than his wife' really rubs me the wrong way, especially when said to a lover. like you could say anything to her about her choices but you specifically belittle her for the life she's chosen and present it like she's somebody less than yourself because she didn't decide to be with you. like she's worth nothing as a man's wife and would only be worth something with you, apparently. well have you considered that maybe she didn't end up with you not cause she was scared of committing to pussy but cause you're a BITCH WHO LIKES TO SHAME PEOPLE!!! maybe YOU made it harder for her to admit her attraction to women!!!

i'm only partially serious but the lyrical character in this song is really unlikeable to me and i refuse to cut her any slack x)
