Do you ever wear a face mask in public? Do you wear it to protect yourself or others?
No, I haven't worn any masks. I haven't left my home in almost four weeks so I haven't had any need to.
I haven't been out in public, but next time I do I'll wear a simple surgical mask. it is 100% to protect other people in case I'm an asymptomatic carrier. my attitude has definitely shifted on masks as the situation has evolved but in light of the CDC's recommendation and the number of people who are likely asymptomatic, it seems safer than not to wear one
Oh, I did wear them constantly when I worked as a nurse. We all forgot them like with glasses. I remember when I met some other nurses in the supermarket next to the hospital and we all had one. But we did wear them to protect our patients from our exhaled moist byproducts aka bacteria and viruses.
I don't. It seems like it's become more of a fashion statement recently though, I keep seeing people with these custom designed facemasks with pictures of cartoon characters or design patterns on them. From what I read they aren't doing anyone any good, the virus is spread throughout contact.
I don't have an actual face mask for serious business time. I have a novelty surgical mask that has a sharp-teeth-big-grin-look-this-person-has-no-friends-manga-mouth printed on it. I wore it to work for fun-fun dumb bitch time once. But now I'm wearing it FOR SERIOUS to work because we're supposed to cover our faces, and it's the best thing I have for that. It's supposed to protect others. But since they don't care wtf it is we wear on our faces, and the things we are wearing seem less than adequate, I think it's just an attempt to safeguard against potential customer lawsuits in the future by offering some health security theater.
Never.
