It's been a long time since I played a DMC game (1 & 2 on PS2) so I know/remember very little about Dante. As for GoW, I've only played the most recent one (although I plan to play the series from the beginning at some point), but from what I know of Kratos, he has a habit of killing gods. So even if Dante is as powerful as a god, that likely wouldn't prevent Kratos from beating him.

Kratos, no question. I haven't played anything from the DMC series since high school so I know not of new school Dante.
