I think people should have freedom of speech, both legally and on a practical level (which means they shouldn't be fired, etc. for things they say on the internet). Also people do often change from when they're younger, I don't agree that they would necessarily go back and delete their tweets after a change of heart. And like I've said before, depending on how old they are, times may have been different when they were younger. It's obvious form history that everyone always helplessly falls in line with the society they live in, so they shouldn't be punished e.g. for homophobic in a homophobic society.
