"Retro"-spring. They want to live up to the name and pretend it's 1998, pre-formspring.
You can use any font you want, anywhere, if you just use your I M A G I N A T I O N 🌈
Most sites, chat programs, etc. don't let you select your font, so it's normal. AIM did let you though, one of the reasons AIM rocked.
One problem with letting people select the font is that not everybody has the same fonts installed. So what looks like Roman Gothic to you might be Ariel to somebody else. There only about 5 or so fonts that are guaranteed to exist on most systems.
Technically this is possible, but it would easily destroy the design and readability.
