What's the purpose to ask a question which you think you know the answer?

To get somebody else to realize something (the answer) that you want them to realize.

You mean why ask something rhetorically? Usually it's to drive home a point or to be smug about a belief of yours.

..you can check the opinion of others in order to see if you are a victim of prejudice?

to see if other people also know the correct answer so u can stroke ur ego if they don't. or maybe you are not entirely convinced you have the completely correct answer
