if it already came in a bottle or can then I don't know why I'd bother to pour it in a glass. that's just an extra thing that needs to be washed then

At home: can/bottle (whichever one it comes in). In a pub: pint glass.

Some beer excels when drunk from the bottle, some other sort is a bit better from the glass, cans have an opening too tight for the scent and taste to develop in a satisfying way.
