What do you think about raising kids without rules? https://youtu.be/OJlDfgi094w

I don't believe in trying to control kids, but it also sounds dangerous to enforce literally ZERO rules

About the same as letting anyone doing a job without any prior knowledge or training...

I think these experiments were done excessively during the 70s ? I expect a result similar to what you get when you have a group of adults without rules. You might get a bully dominated group that causes the decent individuals to suffer and the idiots to strive.

I think boundaries are healthy, for anybody but especially kids - you have an obligation as a parent to prepare a child for adulthood, and adulthood is just lousy with rules... those kids seem destined to be the coworkers that everyone hates

No. We naturally crave structure. Brain development (frontal lobe responsable for executive decision making) is not fully developed until about 25 years of age.

I didn’t watch the video, but I think whatever rules you want to set up, you must be willing to follow through. And if there are no rules, you should be prepared to accept all and any consequences. I know for my own sanity, I need rules for my child. But I try to set up most rules based on safety. I’m not ok with him throwing things in the house, but I’m ok with him being loud. And then there are rules that make my life easier. Like, no writing on the walls. I ain’t cleaning that shit!!

Rules have different degrees of necessity - some are crucial for raising them, and some wouldn't make any difference if not followed. Therefore, I don't think there should be such thing as no rules, but just the fundamental rules
