Are memories something good or not? If you could choose whether have them or not? What would you choose?

memories themselves can be good or bad but the ability to store them and retrieve them is an overwhelming good thing. not sure how anyone could lead an effective life if they couldn't remember a damn thing. not just memories with emotional significance but things like remembering how to walk, how to drive, who I am, who my loved ones are are part of memory too. I wouldn't willingly give that up and I hope a neuro disease never takes any of em away from me

Getting rid of your memories would be like excising a part of yourself/your identity, so I don't think it's a good idea.. It would also leave you bereft of understanding of why/how things are the way they are/you are the way you are in some ways. "I have great respect for the past. If you don't know where you've come from, you don't know where you're going." - Maya Angelou

Some are not pleasant, but they are what they are and they are a part of me for better or worse. I would choose to keep them if given the choice.

They're a good thing, even the bad ones serve a purpose, if only to help you appreciate the good ones or teach you a life lesson or some shit

I think they are one of the most important things in this world. But you can't live in them, and its dangerous if you try.
