I'm again in home office, not due to Covid, but due to damaged streets, flooding and the traffic being severely affected in this area. Who works in dry heat?
Im sorry Kate. I hope that the rains and the flooding stop soon. When I saw what was happening in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, you, Daniel, and Wasserpistol immediately came to mind. 😔
@Daniel How is our philosophy professor friend doing. Haven’t seen him in a while.
Belgium is a tiny country, they do not have enough life boats for sailing between houses in the streets.
Austria did send crews plus boats they use especially for that purpose.
Usually the equipment would have been provided by German organisations, but they are all commissioned right now.
What's dry heat?
Heat without humidity, like for instance in a desert.
That sounds horrible
it is more bearable than hot and moist air. At least for me!
That's good then :)
A lot of companies here realized they'd be saving a lot in renting office space by continuing to allow people the option to work from home. So that hasn't changed.
My company supports the cost for my second apartment for the same reaon. 😄
Please stay safe, the world becomes 37% less sexy without you, I ran the numbers three times
Tomorrow I'll support and help with clearing a house of friends that has been flooded. The small stream close by rose from about 5meters of width to 50!
I expect that to be very dirty work and the mud and dirt will fill the wellies very soon I fear, I know such jobs. I'll check how sexy I'm afterwards.
Seriously, that's great that you're helping out, and stay safe out there
Sad enough the local death toll rose to over 20. It isn't clear if we will be able to reach the destination as the roads there have been closed this afternoon.
The entire local fleet of helis is airborne. I'm going to drive there anyway and check if I can be of assistance.
I might not be a heli-pilot but I can still do a job as a nurse.
At least you can work in any attire you choose...
Not during online meetings. But the rest of the time I'm sloppy. Right. 😊
You also got the humid oven environment?
It's always around
Yeah, I heard the news. Are you OK? I didn't watch any video clips of the flood but apparently several people have died ...
In this area we have 6 casualties, but in Germany there were until now 31 casualties. There are at least 4 small towns that look like post war
and several others still on the brink of devastation.
