Do you ever attend social or family events more out of obligation than a true desire to go?

Oh for sure, I'm an introvert - I basically need to be dragged to large social gatherings.

Most social events do have that double faced character of an obligation and maybe a little desire.

I'm pretty much blacklisted from most extended family events due to my drunkenness😄

That would be all of them, it's still a relatively new concept to me that people actually like hanging out socially with their families, and would seek out an opportunity to do so

NOPE. I have not attended any social family events thrown by my father’s side living in the US (including weddings or funerals) in the last 20 years. These relatives are my father’s aunts/uncles/cousins and I dislike them immensely. my sister and are a mythical mystery to them and we’d like to keep it that way. My own closely related relatives (aunts / uncles / cousins) don’t live in the US.
