I’ve only ever seen one Godzilla film. I was 8 or 9 and my father was working in a factory at the time. It was around Christmas, and the company had organised a day out for the children of their employees. We went somewhere in the morning (I can’t remember where), then had lunch, and then we went to the cinema - which they’d booked out specially. They showed a couple of films, and we got free popcorn and drinks. One of the films was an ancient black and white Godzilla movie - I think it was maybe even one of the original Japanese ones. We’d never seen anything like it! All the kids were cheering and booing and squealing, having a whale of a time. It was great fun. Even though Godzilla was very obviously a rubber toy charging around a tiny model city, it was one of the best cinema trips ever!
