Watched my old x-ray photo of my breast cancer. If I would have had an amputation would I have let them rebuilt an artificial boob or not? Im not sure. Would you do it?

When I was 14/15, I worked with a woman who’d had a double mastectomy years earlier. She decided to get reconstructive surgery. It was very complicated and involved a few surgeries - because of the time lapse and the fact she’d had a lot of other tissue removed at the time too - but it was a success in the end and she was very happy. At the time, hearing what they did (EEK!), and seeing the pain she went through, I thought it was a bit dangerous/unnecessary/why tempt fate kind of thing, but it really changed her life. I think they can sometimes do the mastectomy and reconstruction all in one now, so I think that would be the way to go. I hope I never have to find out. Stay well.
