Should we abolish marriage?

Yes, it's a naive ideology that just binds people together in unhappiness. A moment of commitment and ceremony for the rush of it, in return for a lifetime of being stuck in a relationship that's lost its spark.

Its true purpose has always been a legal framework (its roots are in building/growing/protecting wealth) more than a declaration of love...but in that sense we need it now more than ever - some people absolutely rely on the legal protections and rights and all of marriage, and they would be boned without it

It should continue to exist, people can decide on their own if it's worth the trouble. Personally I don't think I could go through that again.

No, but I almost wish marriage was lawfully conditional upon at least a year of dating. I feel like a big reason why there's such a large volume of failed marriages is because couples rush into it. I personally wouldn't want to marry anyone before dating them at least four years.
