You spot someone you think you recognize (what do you do?) greet them 1st or wait till they make the 1st move (I've accidentally greeted strangers who became new friends that way)

I saw someone I’d worked with for years in a cafe. I went up and said hello. She didn’t know who I was. Not. A. Clue. She was more embarrassed than I was. It hasn’t put me off.

I'm not outgoing enough to approach people that way so I'd probably pretend I don't know them.

Awkwardly try and make eye contact with them to see if we recognise each other

I’m nearsighted (and choose to not wear my glasses a large portion of the time by choice). I will do both depending on my mood.

I often greeted first and fell victim to strangers. One of my rare talents that are underappreciated. I've gotten rude reactions that way and try to avoid it and then do not greet people I know. They usually blame me not wearing my glasses.

I do a casual wave that I can potentially recover from. I can't risk going all out and having it be the wrong person
