Have you ever been to a grocery store that was already empty? Meaning not many groceries left? I experienced that once in Austria.

In 1999, I vaguely remember that the groceries were scant in the last couple of days leading up to New Year's because people actually thought Y2K was a thing and they were making a food stock. There wasn't any bread left on the shelves, and my dad was mad because he just wanted bread for regular, daily, feed your children reasons.

I've been to grocery stores where entire isles or at least entire sections/halves of isles were empty, it happens whenever there's a big hurricane coming, don't remember if it's ever been the whole store. A few of the isles at the grocery store I worked at were always half-empty, I think it was my fault. I sucked. I guess the management never noticed. =P

Yeah, the Market Baskets back home had some kind of labor thing, a strike or walkout or something...can't remember the details except I popped into one once and there was no one to stock shelves or anything so it looked pretty post-apocalypse in there
