Some women say they only use make up for themselves and they don't care about what others think about it. Can that be really true?

idk, I don't wear makeup but for me personally i like it when i look good to both myself and other people. those things can coexist

Yes. I put on make up at home even though I don’t leave the house thanks to the rona. And this is despite my husband saying he likes it better without makeup. It’s all about me and how it makes me feel.

I don't know, maybe, but either way they're doing it because they're programmed to do it by society. They wouldn't wear makeup if nobody else did. And I think claiming that they us it only for themselves is a likely defense mechanism..

That is very difficult to say. If people would tell her she doesn't look good with make up would she stop wearing it because they are so annoying or because she cares so dang much what they think? We will never know.

sure, 'feeling good/cute/sexy' and 'pleasing/attracting others' are separate things, though there can be some overlap - people reacting a certain way to you doesn't necessarily mean you wanted or intended that reaction, you know who wants and intends a reaction out of you? Trolls, and wearing makeup ain't trolling
