Do you assume that someone with a phd is intelligent?

heard that all it takes to get a PhD is dedication to the academic grind.
I generally believe a doctor of anything is smart in some respects of course.

Intelligent enough to get that PhD as long as they didn't pay for it or got it through connections, not on merit.

No, there are a fair amount of schools that will allow you to progress as long as you keep paying, plenty of C students with advanced degrees

At least as intelligent as to effectively deal with the rules for this. Though some do cheat a bit.

I assume they're probably more intelligent than average, but that doesn't mean they're truly intelligent.

I assume they are educated, but have learned not to automatically assume that means they are also intelligent.
