Do you feel bad if you are not useful to society?

I think its interesting what some people deem as useful to society or not. This pandemic should have made it very obvious that retail workers on the whole are much more useful to society than the majority of office workers. Yet look how retail workers are paid and treated.

To answer your question, no. I didn't ask to be born. I'm here for a good time not for a long time.

I was NEETing for a few months, it cleared my head for sure and now I do my duty in exchange for cash.

with humans usefulness is a hard metric to guess long term I think

not really, I just don't think about it. Besides, people who give back to the economy are actually doing more damage than I am, because the economy is an evil machine that systematically destroys the natural world.

I would if I was in such a position where I was taking and not giving back to society... I guess that guilt gets taken away over decades of paying tax though.

No, the concept of 'useful to society' is your corporate masters talking, they want you feeling bad/guilty so you will work and end the year with 15 unused vacation days
