Nuclear power plants-yay or nay?

Yay, but only if they’re not built, or run, by people. Nuclear power is the future, but it’s complicated and dangerous and has to be done right. As soon as you add people into the mix - in all their greedy lazy stupidity - it becomes a hundred times more dangerous. If someone can cut a corner somewhere to earn an extra buck, or to speed a boring job up, or simply because they can’t be bothered, they will do it. If the Japanese, with their corporate pride and strong work ethic can fuck a nuclear plant up, what hope do the rest of us have?

Yay! They are a lot more safe now. And its cleaner energy that fracking, oil and coal.

Yay, I'm a big fan. They're green and far far safer than blowing up half a mountain and filling it with people (coal mining).

It'll solve half the world's problems at an instant once they get a fusion reactor up and running (allegedly we're 50 years away from this).

They're not ideal, with all the nuclear waste they generate, but they're probably better than burning fossil fuels, especially given our struggle with climate change. Though I'm not sure what's worse between fossil fuels and nuclear power in Japan where apparently codes/maintenance aren't strict enough, given the TWO meltdowns they've had that have dosed the entire world with radioactivity..

Yay, assuming they are properly maintained and regulated, which is no given around these parts

They're cool but not worth it. Right now just burning natural gas is our best bet until we can figure something else out
