French. There are French words in the English language

To me it's closer to German. French is very strange to my ears.

English is derivative of German. French is a Latin romance language like Spanish or Italian which isn't like English at all.

German... I was under the impression that English is considered a Germanic language, or least 'descended' from one or they are somehow related where French is Latin/Romance
