What's something that sounds completely bizarre to you in a different accent? Girl from London at work says "gay rage" instead of "garage".

Many of Persians can't pronounce the sound th (phonetic: /θ/) in words like thrive. thistle, through etc. They pronounce these words with the sound t. When they say "third person" it sounds like "turd person"!

When Spanish-speakers of Caribbean origin switch out the /r / sound for an /l/ sound. Ex: Rosario. Someone from PR - RosaLio... Me: 😖😖😖😖 There is NO L in Rosario GD!!!

English people trying to pronounce any Scottish words. Like driech, or chranachan, or Drumnadrochit.

in northern Vietnamese "d" at the beginning of words is pronounced with a /z/ sound whereas in southern dialect it is a /j/ ("y" sound) and I think the northern version is grating to the ears. northern speech in general sounds very choppy to me

Hm, there must be another British accent where 'garage' rhymes with 'disparage' which I guess kinda makes sense looking at it just now... anyway it's not really bizarre but I always thought it was cute when native Japanese speakers learn English and a word like 'page' comes out as 'pay-gee' because they're so used to words ending in a vowel
