When giving money to charities, do you sometimes suspect that they might be a front for some money-laundering scheme? How do you help the needy without being taken advantage of?
meh, I don't know about 'scheme' but 'administrative costs' do seem to eat up a lot of the budgets of some of these places and not so much the starving kids in Yemen or wherever
Yes, all the time, I usually tend to trust the ones you find outside, doing the act when they ask for the donation vs the mysterious flyers/webpages claiming to be for a good cause.
I don't know. I try to dO My OWn ReseARch when I can, but at the end of the day I hope it helps someone and I don't want to be overly cautious when I can afford to just give money. I feel like I give more money to individual people than to charities.
That has been known to happen. In fact a lot of terrorist groups raised money that way, the "Islamic society of Boston" did this and got free land to build the largest mosque on the east coast from our idiot mayor.
