When do you usually stop being nice to people?

My niceness has several degrees. I can cool it down before it shuts off completely.

If I'm not 'in the mood'.

They stop being nice.

They don't respect me / my time / my attention.

They're meaner than they merit. A good friend can be 'mean'*, it's a signal . With a new acquaintance obviously less is tolerated.

I have no obligation to be nice. i.e. I'm not being paid, supervised. There's no association to maintain. Presumably they have been less than nice, and there's nothing to reciprocate. nice → ( hopefully) indifference.

When they take advantage of it / when they've proven themselves to be complete & utter pieces of shit tbh
