When is technology bad for you?

[07-28-19]

Technology isn't good or bad it's a tool … blahblahblah.

Allows encourages slothful behavior. Allows/encourages nosiness. It doesn't obey. It won't install that libraries / interpreter / compiler etc. It continually seeks money, often with minimal/marginal improvements. Features are developed and then removed with little to replace them. Not me, not yet(?) but totalitarian regimes and fear of such? Paranoia about the latter. Sheep, dodos, and lemmings are lead to push toward totalitarianism. etc. etc.

When it starts affecting your physical and mental health. I've heard of people literally dying after gaming for 2 days straight without taking breaks. Redditor's wife meme comes to mind.

When that guy in that 32ton fuel transporter lost his track and got close to me in my car.

When it causes cancer, when you spend your whole life slaving away just to buy and maintain your technology, when being immersed in it separates you from nature..

if you grow dependent on it to feel anything good in your life ("yes, 60 upvotes! thank God, finally some serotonin"), you use it as a tool to harm others or other use it to harm you, you spend so much time on it that you don't know how to cultivate relationships irl ) don't know how to act irl, period .... there are probably a lot of other reasons it'd be bad for someone but I can't think of any more
