Some mothers, fathers are horrible towards their children. They abuse them in every way and yet some children, despite all the suffering, still love their parents and they also don't break up contact as adults. Why is that so? What do you think?

A sense of guilt or obligation, probably. I can personally relate to this as my relationship with my father is far from great, and it might be best if I cut him off, but sometimes you just find yourself thinking "they can't help how they are" and "they love you more than anything even if they don't know how to express it properly". It's our own sense of empathy that holds us back.
