Thoughts on Nukitashi getting localized already (and at all)?

I think it has potential to do pretty well in the west, especially if it gets on Steam (uncensored of course). The developers were apparently gung ho about the idea of localizing it, so seems like a cool project all around imo.

is nukitashi good for a first untranslated read?

Dunno, it's kinda long (~2.4mb according to the translator) and is filled with sex jokes/puns and silly references. It's consistently entertaining, though, and will certainly teach you a wide range of porn-related vocabulary!

Have you tried reading 図書館ドラゴンは火を吹かない? It's one of the better narou stuff I've read.

I mentioned it in a previous answer, but I intend to read the bunko version at some point.

Do you mean that omaegotoki as a WN is now complete?

Yes, and the published version is likely going to be so different from the original that it will qualify as an alternate take on the original plot, so you can enjoy it twice if you read it now!

What would a list like that look like for getting into 一般小説?

I haven't read anywhere near enough to consider myself qualified to give advice here, sorry.

火花 is a pretty good choice if you want to see what contemporary Japanese literature is looking like, though. Short and fun to read.

What light novel(s) would you recommend to someone trying to get into the medium?

イリヤの空、UFOの夏 and 人類は衰退しました. They will curse you to continue reading LNs forever in hopes of finding something as good as them.

If you want something recent/ongoing, then りゅうおうのおしごと!. For something that's only a single volume long, 紫色のクオリア. These are similarly cursed, so they're perfect picks for a newcomer.

If you want the MOST cursed series, then ミス・ファーブルの蟲ノ荒園. Not only does it embody the appeal of LNs perfectly, it's unfinished and cancelled! (This isn't really a serious suggestion, but the others are.)

When reading voiced VNs, do you wait for the VA to completely read the line on display or do you move to the next line when you finish reading it?

I use the option that keeps voices playing until another one plays and generally just read at my own pace. If a line in question is particularly cool/noteworthy in some way or I'm really into the scene in question, I'll let it play out in its entirety before moving on, though.

who is your favorite Sen character not named Altina

Are you gonna play Megaman 11?

Nope. I don't really like classic Megaman to begin with, Kefit told me that it sucked, and it has lives.

It just got over 100 million yen so I feel compelled to ask: what's the hype around Musica about? What makes it so special that people gave it so much money?

The simple answer is that a whole lot of people really love Setoguchi's writing and are eager to see him return to eroge. Bamboo has also done a very good job promoting the crowdfunding campaign itself.

The trial they released is very compelling, as well. I'd recommend trying it out if you want to see what all the hype is about - it honestly made me feel like Musica could end up being Setoguchi's best work period.

yo dude omaegotoki are you into naoru now?

What Discord servers are you in? I don't participate a lot in discussions but I love read people who know their business so it would be nice to join those servers.

Kastel's server is the only public one I'm in. If you want an invitation to the fabled JOP server just PM me on there.

Do you still watch anime? What was the latest one you liked?

The last one I watched was Devilman Crybaby earlier this year. It was all right, but I read the original manga afterward and ended up liking it more.

Would Saihate no Ima be a bad idea for a first untranslated read? Also which version to get?

This would be a really terrible idea. Ima is a dense, ponderous read even for native speakers, filled with long digressions on a wide variety of specific topics, and if you try reading it without a solid handle on the language you will probably just end up discouraged and unengaged. I would recommend picking pretty much anything else.

For anyone wondering what version of the game to play, though, there aren't really any significant differences between versions like with C+C, so just go with the latest one.

So whatever happened to Mizuhuito Akiyama?

He posted a message on the Kakuyomu serialization of Iriya no Sora recently: https://kakuyomu.jp/works/1177354054885579795/episodes/1177354054886208349

tl;dr He just doesn't seem to be interested in writing anymore.
