What is the most amount of money you have lent someone? and how did that go?

About £1000, to my aunt and uncle. It was fine.

My cousin (single dad with a young daughter) needed a deposit to move into a flat, and my aunt and uncle were going to help him with it. The thing is they couldn't afford to at that moment in time, but were soon selling their house and downsizing, and would have the money then.

I had a bit of money in the bank because it turned out that for years I had been receiving a lower rate of disability benefits than I was entitled to, so they were like "oops, here's the money you should have had" and paid something like 4 or 5 grand into my account.

So my mum told me about the situation with my cousin, and asked me if maybe I'd be willing to lend £1000, and my aunt and uncle would pay me back when they moved. I was happy to do that, and they paid me back within a couple of months. So yeah, it was fine.
