Hey, I don't really understand what is the check in or what happen on those.
Hello! First off, rest assurred that you will not get kicked out of the event if you don't meet the check in requirements.
Check Ins serve several purposes - 1, so that creators can keep themselves on track, and 2, so that mods can: gauge your participation, find pinch hitters to sub-in if a participant drops out, and we will also address any questions that may arise.
We will have two types of check ins. Soft Check Ins are to gauge communication between the team (writer, artist, and beta). Anyone who fails to complete these Check Ins will be considered dropped from the event, and the mods will find a pinch hitter to fill the spot.
Regular Check Ins are when mods will look over the completion status of your piece. There will be three check-ins, all of which will last 7 days. All team members must complete the check-in Google Form by the deadline, and anyone who does not will be considered dropped from the event and replaced by a pinch hitter. However, extensions are allowed. If you don’t think you have reached the completion expectations for the check-in, we would still like to see your work!
Hi! This may be a dumb question, but I was wondering where do we send our summary?
When summary submissions open, there will be a form for writers to submit their summaries through. It will be announced in the discord server, so make sure you've joined (it's a requirement!) and make sure you've grabbed the "writer" role in the roles channel.
Hi! I've never been part of any fan events before, especially not a big bang like this. I was just wondering what exactly it entails if I were to sign up? I'm also wondering how long the period to actually complete the drawing would be, so I know if I will be able to handle more than one.
Hello! A Big Bang is an event where writers and artists are paired up to create content related to OiKage. In order to pair up creators, writers will be required to submit summaries for their planned fic. Artists and beta readers will then select their top preferences, from which they will be paired.
Artists who sign up will commit to making at least one drawing that is either colored or shaded on unlined paper. (Backgrounds, while recommended, are optional)
Artists will have from 9/25 (when teams are announced) until 12/30 (final check-in) to complete their piece(s).
More information (including the detailed schedule) can be found on our Carrd! https://oikagebigbang.carrd.co/
Hey, I don’t have a discord account but I can still beta. Is there anyway to still sign up ?
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our event. We are requiring that all participants join our Discord server for ease of communication. If you would like to sign up still, but are unsure as to how to get Discord, here are the instructions. (https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033931551-Getting-Started). Thanks again!
were we supposed to get an email confirmation after signing up? just making sure my sign up went through
Hello! No email confirmations were sent, but if you want to double check if your sign-up went through, feel free to DM a mod on Discord or on our Twitter!
hi! sorry, this may be a dumb question, but what does a pinch hitter do? are just on standby in case someone drops out halfway?
That's exactly correct! Pinch hitters are essential participants in any fan event <3 They will be called on when a writer or artist drops out and leaves a gap on a team. Pinch hitters will be given the option to take on the now-open role if they are interested (they are not required to take on any assignment).
hello! im just wondering, since there seem to be a lot more writers than artist, what is going to happen to summaries that dont get picked? (assuming the artists are no longer able to take up anymore than they already did)
Rest assured, the mods are committed to making sure every writer gets an artist! :)
hey would just like to check if it's possible to write problematic content such as non-con?
Hello, thank you for your question! For the OiKage Big Bang, creations are not allowed to contain the following: pedophilia/extreme underage/shotacon, bestiality (where it relates to animals that cannot consent), and incest.
You're all good as long as your fic doesn't contain any of those subjects and you tag everything accordingly. :)
HELLO can i write monsterfucking?

hi! are polyships allowed as long as oikage is the focus?
Hello, thank you for your question! For the purposes of this event, we'll only be accepting works centered on OiKage, not polyships including OiKage.
hello! on the guidebook it says that "Your post must be cross-posted to Twitter" but on a question answered previously here, you say that having a twitter is not necessary and that you will post art on the artists' behalf. does this apply to writers too?
Thank you for your question, having a Twitter is not necessary for writers either, all that is required is an AO3 account. If you do not have a Twitter, we are happy to post a promo on your behalf.
We have now updated the guidebook accordingly with this information. :)
Can you sign up to participate and also sign up as a pinch hitter?
Of course you can! Participants can sign up for multiple roles as long as it is manageable with your schedule. We just ask you to fill out all the applicable forms so that we know you're available for all the roles you are interested in. :)
Is there a word minimum or maximum?
Hello, thank you for your question! Our guidebook says that, "Writers who sign up will commit to writing a piece that is at least 7,000 words long for this event. There is no maximum word limit, feel free to write as much as you want!"
Are you opening for pinch hitters?
Hello! Yes, we are! You can find the tweet with the sign-up form here :)

Hello! Is there any reason why summary submissions, claims and team announcements are so close together?
Summary submissions, claims, and team announcements are close together because us mods plan to get your team matchups out as quickly as possible so you can start working on your pieces with your partner! We don't want to leave you waiting for a long period of time after you've submitted your summary (if you're a writer) or made your claims (if you're an artist/beta).
