Out of curiosity, how many applicants were accepted?
We have a total of 68 contributors to this project!! Please look forward to everyone's efforts!
how many apps were received in each category? 👀
We received about 270 artist applications, and 37 writer applications.
if it is okay to know, how many apps have you received so far (you can ignore my question if you'd rather not say)
We will release the exact numbers after our applications is over!
Hello! Are we allowed to edit our portfolio once it's submitted?
Hello! Yes, you definitely can! If you check your email and form that you've submitted, you should see an "Edit response" link.
Hi! This is probably an unusual question but I’m very curious- you mentioned "vague mentions of sex" is permissible. I’m wondering what that exactly means and if you could give an example of/describe how that would be applied to this project ? ^^’ Genuine curiosity! Thanks! (Also love ghost Pokémon and looking forward to seeing this project complete!)
Thank you for your excitement! To be clear, this was part of what we considered as valid for applications samples. The PokeGeist zine itself will not include any sexual content of any nature at all. For applications, vague mentions of sex means things like fade-to-black, etc, and no explicit descriptions.
We've updated the Carrd to specify this!
Even though it's not technically a Ghost type Pokemon, will the Marowak ghost (or the Ghost glitch in general) from the game be allowed in the zine?
Yes, if you'd like to create a piece featuring Marowak ghost/ghost glitch, please submit a pitch (your idea for the piece) in your application.
Do you plan to have the zine rep every single existing Ghost type Pokemon? Also if a new Ghost type is revealed for gen 9 during the creation period, will they be included?
Yes, we plan to represent every evolution line of Ghost-type Pokemon. If new Ghost-types are revealed for generation 9 during the creation period, we will do our best to fit them in given the timeframe of the zine!
Can I ask why you've added the penultimate question to the contributor application? The wording is sort of vague (who is the one doing the "considering" in the future?) and reads as almost threatening. Most zines do not publicly announce that they will be blacklisting contributors. What happens if a person has a legitimate issue/reason for not communicating for a while, and wishes not to divulge it to the mod team for safety reasons? /nm
We do apologize for the way that that question comes off. You are correct in that it does come off as abrasive and we never meant it to be that way. We want all potential contributors to feel comfortable in applying to this zine as it's supposed to be a fun experience for everyone involved. We have gone ahead and removed the question from the application forms so that it doesn't make anyone else uncomfortable.
We do understand that life happens and sometimes situations are unavoidable. While we don't need a detailed report of what's going on, moderators would appreciate a heads up as a courtesy if you are unable to meet a deadline or further contribute to the project, in the event that someone else may have to fill in for you.
If you have any further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to send us another ask! 💜
If I submit a portfolio with a nsfw subfolder, would that be okay?
Yes! As long as you clearly mark that the subfolder is NSFW, that's completely fine!
Are we allowed to use Ao3 as a portfolio?
Yes, absolutely!! Looking forward to your application! 👻 💜
What is your definition of NSFW, as I know some zines include gore in this but not everyone has the same definition or tolerence levels of gore. And does this definition vary between art and written work?
NSFW means explicit content, which includes sex, gore, and sensitive content such as drugs, etc. Vague mentions of sex and surface-level injury is acceptable; anything beyond will be considered NSFW. This applies to both art and written works.
For a specific list, we will be following Twitter's definition: https://help.twitter.com/en/rules-and-policies/media-policy
