the whole Ellen thing? I mean, she's rich so she gets to live in this bubble of privilege and doesn't really have to think about what George W Bush's policies/actions did to other people. I think that's fair. a lot of my friends are of the school of thought that being a centrist or choosing to be indifferent/apathetic about something means you're siding with the oppressor and I can see their point of view, but also... not all the time? I can privately hate someone's guts and their beliefs but not actively do anything about it. most people in my circle do. how many of my friends are actively doing something to combat the oppression they revile? a lot of us just complain about it (I know I do) and maybe that's just fine for now. we can be mad at Ellen for not doing what we wish we could do if we have the money & influence, but at the end of the day our complaining doesn't do nothin', same as Ellen
