I've used the former phrase sometimes ironically knowing that it's rooted in misogyny, but never the latter bc you'll never catch me with balls in my mouth ! however, both phrases are rooted in misogyny, in this idea that having or not having (even as a metaphor) a particular gendered part makes you more or less weak.
