Have you ever been to therapy? Why or why not? If not, do you think it's something you could benefit from?
Yes. There's really no way to get around going to therapy if you want to legally and medically transition. Aside from that, I went to counseling for addiction and other issues. Seeking help was beneficial in itself, even without the actual counseling taking place, because it helped put into perceptive the seriousness of the situation. Finding therapy that's helpful in maybe more specific ways is a lot of work, imo. This state isn't great with mental health. Therapists are overbooked and often drop people saying they can't meet their needs, then they give referrals to specialists who can't fit anyone new in for weeks. I've had some really bad and some good experiences with therapists and therapy here.
I've been to a few different therapists, because I'm all fucked up, and going to therapy is just the thing people seem to do. Not sure if it helped me. I think I'm too deeply/profoundly screwed for therapy to help much, and my situation is rather unique IMO so not many therapists would really understand me. Not even professionals really understand human nature that well.
You talk about mental therapy? No. Which doesn't mean I would not have benefited by support during my sad times.
