They did leave everything/everyone they knew behind to give their children a better future … although I think for my dad it was more of an adventure and he knew he could always go back if things didn’t work out - rather than sacrificing his life for his kids. But still… All’s well that ends well.

Serially. Anytime my sister takes her kid to the park, some moms ask for her phone number to set up play dates. Anytime I take my kid to the park, I get to watch the other two moms who are present there become besties and completely ignore me. I just have that face, you know? 🤷‍♀️

NOPE. I have not attended any social family events thrown by my father’s side living in the US (including weddings or funerals) in the last 20 years. These relatives are my father’s aunts/uncles/cousins and I dislike them immensely. my sister and are a mythical mystery to them and we’d like to keep it that way. My own closely related relatives (aunts / uncles / cousins) don’t live in the US.
