There's a change in direction but a lot of people tend to forget a lot of things that haven't really changed much about Nintendo...

So, do you think Nintendo will be dragged into doing their own take on Game Pass now that Sony and Microsoft have theirs? They probably have no choice but to do this in order to increase value propositions for NSO after the Expansion Pack flops.

They already made one in their eyes.

En professionnel, j'ai juste bossé dans un fablab et zéro études supérieures (parce que ça me fait chier), et actuellement je continue mes projets persos de ROM hack et traductions... et d'aider quelques personnes sur quelques projets.

They're more concerned with making the same profit margins as 10-15 years ago tbh, and everything they're doing is all in service of maintaining them even as the budgets and costs are getting higher, and parts of their business suffer as a result.

They're doing fine now, and are even funding a new building for even more development and employees. To me that's the sign that they're doing just fine.

In any case, Furukawa laying out Nintendo's plans to spend their money on long-term development and expansion had to be a case of having their hand forced. At least they aren't oblivious (mostly) to what their competition is doing.

It's not that Nintendo isn't oblivious to the competition, they just don't care. The money part is probably partially because they found out Switch Online actually sucked last year and had to develop a new client/server system that's about to be used VERY SOON.

I think Nintendo is scared of reliving that period of quarterly losses from 2011-2015. Which is why they're making all of these unfortunate decisions lately under the intention of having everything turn a profit, regardless of the consequences.

They were still making profits in that time IIRC, just less. And then lowered the higher up salaries to compensate.
Nonetheless Nintendo's point was to make profits from the start...

What if the reason why we're getting only one new N64 game this month in December is because NERD made fixing the emulator (including the most complained about problems) first priority?

The worst part is like, if that's the case, I would have loved Nintendo to actually mention this. But they don't. Zero transparency.

Why are you soo against NFTs aren't you worried about being labeled as a SJW by your fans ?

NFTs are just "owning" URLs because you can't fit more into the blockchain. In terms of implementation, this shows limits to the blockchain. I'd rather have people changing the copyright system if you wanna care more about owning things. The concept is completely flawed and we shouldn't use Internet to solve it.
I don't even need to talk about the environment to get to this point.
And then literally all of my interactions with people into NFTs are frankly dubious at best.

Moreover: The Internet is not meant to replace everything in your life, I already think the internet of things sucks, cryptocurrency sucks in its concept alone, and I lived a lot of my life into the Internet, down to outright addiction. But Real Life still exists and more people should care about that, when Internet goes down, we shouldn't be having problems in terms of using money and ensuring ownership. Internet is at its best when it adds to real life, not when it tries to replace it.

When it comes to being labeled as SJW by fans: I frankly don't give a fuck. I don't try to annoy people if they're assholes, I avoid to harass people, I try to put light on things that doesn't put people in danger.

How would one go about reviving the 64DD?

64DD emulation is already enough of a revival, but you could also try to make your own 64DD drive... maybe that's an alternative to revive.
