The anatomy of the XENO is drawn very well, what is your process for drawing anthropomorphic anatomy?
What sort of shading method do use for the comics?
Following my last question, the main character has no knowledge of what they are as they are similar in appearance to the "people" of my world. I would like your opinion on how this character could be written?
What motivated you to create Aden as the protagonist of Derideal? What do you wish to explore with him, considering the theme of the story?
Aden is trapped by life and the events surrounding him.
I wanted to tell a story that convey how little control we have in society...
it's just something that bothers me since I was a kid. You're born, you're supposed to be free, yet you are supposed to follow society/family expectation... there are just a few ways to go from there.
Why don't you draw some predators like wolves or leopards though i know that Xenos were first made by humans,or maybe you just prefer domestic species?
As someone with a similar-ish concept for a species, how do you go about incorporating them into the story as the main character?
it depends on what you want to tell honestly.
I wanted to tell the story of an artificially created critter, in a dark society controlled by cruel humans.
you just have to tell the story from the point of view of your character.
there are just a few ways to go from there.
it's hard to make people pay attention for a protagonist that could probably just be a pet character in a different comic/story I think, but I think it's fun type of character to put on the spotlight
What inspired you to create the XENO story?
I love Dune and I'm obsessed over Battlestar Galactica (remake series).
I started reading Asimov's foundation.
and I love Mass Effect.
I tried to make my own thing, but it's hard, without the help of a friend I wouldn't had the energy to make the XEN comic story or dare to start it.
I spent years just drawing concept art.
As an experienced comic artist, how do you go about planning the story and the world?
I usually start by drawing the character concepts as I think about the story.
then I talk about my ideas with people I trust (and who want to pay attention, this is the hardest part haha)
then I make a mental map of the story, like a graph with concepts, arrows and things that will lead to each event.
then I start drawing the script on paper, like a storyboard.
it's easier for me to just draw the comic script, instead of writing. always using pencil and eraser, because I tend to erase a lot, and redraw panels, layouts etc.
when I'm stuck I try to write again to play around the ideas.
In the Nova comic world Xenos can't travel beyond the Earth nearby areas. The ships that exist doesn't have ways to travel too far. So they have just been exploring with some difficulty the solar system.
They are living in Earth.
Xenos live about the same age as humans in the Nova universe.
What other setting have you considered to draw your characters?
Example like a fantasy world or on the medieval times.
Do u enjoy drawing fantasy?
How do xenos see normal animals?
