Will contributors be compensated/get a copy of the zine or merch?
Short answer, yes!
If you have any direct questions regarding this, please DM a mod-
Hello will this be a digital or physical zine? And will you be extending apps?
Hello!
We will be offering both digital and physical versions of this zine :)
Regarding applications, please DM a mod-
How many people do you plan to accept?
At this time the total accepted is undecided, but the range is between 6-15 of each (artists and writers). We'll have a better answer once we look through applications. :)
I might have missed this but did you release the results of the interest check?
Hi there! Thank you for the question!
The interest check was for us to gather insights on preferences of buyers. We didn't feel that the information gathered was pertinent enough to share. However, if you have any direct questions regarding results, I am happy to answer them - just shoot me a DM ! :)
Are NSFW pieces allowed in our applications?
Yes! We welcome spicy pieces for applications, but warn that this zine does not explore sexually explicit topics. Just a heads up!
Hi! You've marked our explanation for choosing samples as optional in text, but they're required in filling out the application. Would you prefer us to explain or is it truly optional and we should mark n/a?
Hey thanks for the heads up! If it is still doing it now just put N/A! It is completely optional :)
Hi there - what sort of content are you looking for in a journalist application? Are you after other examples of fictional non-fiction and IRL current event articles?
Our main driver in grading samples is whether or not you can captivate an audience and deliver information in clear and concise way. We do not want dictate what samples you feel meet that criteria, therefore choose what works you feel illustrate your capabilities.
Unlike typical fanfiction, the fics in this zine will be formatted as articles, but we do not expect this style of writing for your application - if you have some samples, great! You can use real life pieces, if you have them, or fanfiction. :)
What is the preferred word count range for the application?
Oooo this a great question! I'll be sure to add this to the informational section!
Please keep all samples under 4,000 words, there is no bottom limit to account for blurbs! :)
What are the zine requirements and check in schedule?
Thank you for question! When applications open we are looking for applicants to show us some of their favorite sample pieces. We are going to do a blind selection meaning your works will be read without your user name, nor will your socials be considered. Whatever you show us, is all we see.
For writers, we are grading on the ability to build a captivating story or character - not if your works fit the vibes of the zine. Artists will be graded on background ability, characterization, and shading.
There will be more details when the applications open February 14th.
