there are so many unforgettable days.

but i'll talk about a simple one i adore: december, 2021. the second time i'd been to costa rica. my mom, older sister, and me were on the caribbean side ... it rained almost every day. i woke up around six am ... went on a walk by the shore. it was breezy, and humid, and warm. i went back around eight to the place we were staying at. we had breakfast on the balcony (papaya, avocado toast, and coffee) as usual, listening to the waves in the background. it began pouring. we got ready to go swimming. we swam in the middle of a storm, raindrops falling all around us as we did, the trees swaying in the wind. at one point, we'd gotten a bit farther down the beach and i realized i wanted to take pictures with my disposables. and so i ran back to our little wooden house through the narrow dirt road beside it barefoot in my bikini, rain crashing down on me, jumping through puddles, in between the trees. i felt so happy. after the beach, we went to this restaurant that had one of the best vegan burgers i've ever tried in my life. we drank passion fruit juice. in the afternoon, i climbed a hill beside the ocean. saw fireflies. and then sat with my sister in front of the water as it got dark. the rain was still falling. we were soaked. but stayed there talking until it was time for dinner. we finished the night on the balcony again: i lay in the hammock, we played uno and drank margaritas.
