I'm confused by the sample criteria. It says that "Each sample must range from 1k-2.5k words. Your first sample must read as a completed story." does this mean that if you haven't written any complete work (a drabble/very short story) that is under 2.5k words, you're disqualified?

As long as your first sample can be read as a standalone piece/story, you'll be good to go! We have this requirement just so we can see that you'll be able to write a piece within our zine word count requirements.
