What are your thoughts on Liduke as the main artists for Endfield? It's pretty tiring people keep blaming Liduke for Endfield design they don't like when it's clearly impossible if the character designs and art only handled by one person (Liduke).
it's clear that characters design of Endfield handled by a team while Liduke only drawn the splash art etc. Maybe Liduke did help in character design but it's impossible if they're doing it all alone. I understand if they're disappointed in Endfield design but solely blaming it on Liduke is stupid this fandom is unbelievable sometimes 😔
Sorry for the late answer! First of all, while Liduke is the art director, it's hard to tell how much exactly hangs on their decisions. First of all, we already can say pretty confidently that different artists submit concepts for different characters, Arclight gives AZLING away way too much. Second, it's hard to tell how many of the decisions are dictated by Liduke herself, and how many are there from the management/investors etc. Like, we all know the Big Bob to Mudrock pipeline that even Hoshieve as the AK art director at the time couldn't do anything about.
However, Liduke herself was also pretty in favour of sexy features in her unofficial work (the famous ballerina art), so I wouldn't discard the possibility for some things to be her ideas and spins either.
I'll be honest so far I'm not a big fan of Endfield designs for the following reasons a) I don't like how there's not a single design -without- tighs/armpits/etc. accented part (it's not that it's even bad, it's that they don't really even play into the costume logic? Why stupid detached sleeves*) b) I don't see any designs yet where I'd feel a strong "concept" shining through them how I went with AKs spins on animals or Florence Nightingale. So far it looks cute anime girls. And one dude. To his favour, hey, he's as much sexualized as the girlies! Chest open, yeehaw.
Ahem. What I was leading up to is that even if I don't yet have Endfield designs I like (save maybe Perlica and Angelina), if that's Liduke's own taste and volition, I'd be much happier about it compared to if it's a marketing decision.
*P.S. I mentioned the ballerina art here, and it's exactly the type of inserting sexy elements into a design I like much more. It's sexy without breaking the logic of the costume, which makes it elegant at the same time.
