Hi! Is there a way to buy only the merch, or is the full bundle the only way to get everything?
You are correct; we do not have a merch-only bundle and the full bundle is the only bundle containing all the merch. We apologize for the inconvenience!
Hihi! Was wondering how long does it take for contributors applications to receive a response?
We will be sending out result emails on June 10th, after applications close!
Hi!! does the portfolio need to be formatted in a way that you guys want it to be? I don't know if this makes any sense sorry this is my first time doing this and I haven't made a proper portfolio before...
The only main requirement for a portfolio is that we have easy access to everything you want to show us in one place! For artists, this tends to mean a sharing-enabled Google Drive, but other common formats include Carrd, Artstation, Instagram, or a Tumblr tag. For writers, this tends to be an AO3 account or a Drive folder.
Would the P3 movie scenes be valid? Such as the scene of Shinji and Ken at the fireworks festival together? I’m asking because scenes like this are only possible since the movie moved Ken finding out to later, so would this be considered enough of a departure that it would be excluded like with the Portable route?
Yes! The only P3 media we will not be allowing contributors to reference are spinoffs (PQ/PQ2, P3D, etc.) Movie-exclusive scenes, as well as other media-specific scenes, are permitted because scenes exclusive to them still do not drastically alter Shinjiro's overall story, as all the right events still happen at the right times.
For the writing application, what's the difference between the sample pieces and our portfolios? Are we less likely to be considered if the 3 samples IS the entirety of our portfolio?
The sample pieces will be considered by the mods to be your choice of what your best work is, or what your piece for the zine would most look like. It'd be a good idea to make your sample pieces more recent and more relevant, and then put other pieces you believe are still strong examples of your work in your portfolio.
If your three samples are your full portfolio, it is possible it'll hurt your acceptance chances, in the events mods have more questions or curiosities about your work but are unable to look at other fics/pieces for reference.
Hello! Can we apply for more than one role?
Absolutely! You're welcome to apply for all three roles if you'd like, but we will only be able to accept you for one.
The writer application says that each sample piece should be 1.5k-2.5k in length. Do these sample pieces all need to be completed stories, or are excerpts from longer fics also acceptable?
Yes, excerpts from longer fics are totally okay! If trimming down the words cuts out too much context from the full fic, please add a brief context summary in the same section where you paste your link.
The submission guidelines state that all portfolios with nsfw will be rejected immediately. So, if an author were to submit their ao3 as a portfolio, does that mean they'd be rejected if they had any nsfw fics on their account?
Also, what exactly counts as "suggestive" content? Is it strictly erotic content, or is it more broad? Like, would crude humour used in non-sexual contexts be okay? For example, if a character used "jizz stain" as an insult—is that okay, or would it be considered nsfw/suggestive?
Submissions that include explicit NSFW pieces as example pieces will be rejected- the guidelines on the Carrd as they are were a little vague about that, and we'll revise it to be more specific (about example pieces) ASAP- sorry about the confusion! An AO3 account with NSFW fics will not be immediately rejected as a whole, however the mods will not be looking over NSFW-tagged fics as part of the application review.
Our current working definition of suggestive content is content made with the author/artist's main intention to be perceived as sexual (without crossing the line of being classified as explicit). Humor in non-sexual contexts is totally okay! Your example would not be classified as suggestive, and would still be fine to use in an application.
Would like to know if collab pieces are possible!
Yes! We're allowing collabs and, currently, are hoping to assign an artist to all of our writers.
is it gonna have limited shipping areas or will it be available openly worldwide? i'm desperate to get a shinjiro focused zine 😭😭
We will be shipping to any country that is able to accept packages from USPS! This means the vast majority of countries, however you can find an updated list of places that currently are not accepting USPS packages here: https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/3859826-list-of-countries-not-currently-accepting-shipments-from-usps
How do people apply to work on the zine? Also is it open to people who have never worked on a zine before?
Contributor applications will be opening late this month- at that point, you will be able to apply as a contributor.
And, absolutely! Previous zine experience will have absolutely no impact on your application- we will judge applications based on the portfolio we're given alone.
Would you require that contributors have gone through any specific version of P3? I'm not sure how different anything is between reload and any other version, and as reload is the only one i've played at present i just wanted to check before contrib apps open
Just having played Reload is totally fine! Because the story is still presented consistently/with the same main points throughout all versions, we won't require for contributors to have had experienced one specific version. The only requirement is, of course, just an understanding of his story!
Re: the rule about no shipping -- I just want to be sure I understand what no "suggested" romantic undertones means. If I wanted to write a piece about Shinjiro and Akihiko that could be /interpreted/ as romantic, even if there's no direct romance, is that allowed?
Because of how subjective interpretations of work can be, we don't feel confident we can create firm, set-in-stone guidelines on this. When contributors are creating their pitches, there will be a list of guidelines to follow, which will include a note on our rules on shipping- our plan is to trust in our contributors' intentions when creating.
In the case where the mods feel the implications are too heavy in a piece, we will contact the contributor and discuss further about it to reach a compromise.
What rating will the zine be? Are 18+ pieces allowed? If not, would you consider maybe having a bonus section you'd have to pay extra for it?
No, our zine will be fully SFW besides canon-typical levels of profanity, blood, violence, etc. and we are not planning to do any sidezines/bonus content with the project at this time.
Are interactions between Strega and Shinjiro allowed? I know there's not much between them actually shown in canon, but... it is implied, right? Could I expand upon that in my piece?
Yes! We're planning to include a number of pieces featuring Shinjiro's unique relationship to Strega and exploring deeper into it than canon has.
