Preorders are tentatively scheduled to open some time in June! There will be no early bird bundles. All orders will be shipped from Canada. Thank you for your interest and patience!

first time taking interest in zines here; what is the process for product cost? would contributors need to pay?
Welcome to the zine scene! All contributors are guaranteed a copy of the digital zine and digital merch. If the zine sells enough orders during the preorder period, then all contributors will receive a free copy of the zine book and all physical and digital merch. If the zine does not sell well enough, contributors can buy the zine and physical merch at production cost and pay for shipping. If you have any other questions about Quintessence, or zines in general, don't hesitate to ask!

With merch artists portfolios, are you looking for only merch (like charms, stickers, etc.) or is regular art okay?
Both other merch items and regular art aka page art is fine! Such art works could show your skill with prints, postcards, clear cards, etc. We're excited to see your works!

If applying for both poetry and fic, do you prefer separate applications? And if not and it needs to be one application, what kind of distribution do you expect for the samples?
Hello! No need for a separate application! At least one poetry sample and prose sample would be highly recommended. Your portfolio can include more samples of each if you have any others.

Hello! I sent this as an ask to your tumblr account a few days ago but tumblr seems to have eaten it. For the "no nsfw in your art portfolio" rule, does that include anything nsfw or only sexual content? Would a piece of art with nonsexual nudity and no genitalia showing violate this rule?

Hi there! Is it possible for me to apply as a merch artist even though I don't have experience with zines or making merch? Most of my finished works are chibis, and I illustrate as a hobby, so I haven't tried turning them into merchandise yet.

About artist portfolios--there's a piece I'd like to include in my portfolio, but some more sensitive folks may consider it too 'suggestive' and therefore NSFW. It doesn't depict any nudity or sexual intent at all, but I'm afraid of being disqualified if the mod team considers it NSFW anyway. It's one of my best artworks. What would you recommend I do?
