Just wanted to say, good luck with this project! I know you guys will do great.
Thank you so much! We truly appreciate the support <3
Hello! Apologies for the silly question, but when will rejection and acceptance mails be sent out? I didn't find the date on the timeline... Thank you!
Hello! We haven't made an estimate yet, as it depends on how many applications we end up receiving. Currently, we are hoping for it to take about a week however.
My stories are on my PC and I don't want to upload them to a third party site. How do I submit a pdf to your site? Pasting in a link would just give you the path on my PC and nothing you could actually use? Can't I upload them to you?
If you are not comfortable using google docs, you can send your samples to us by way of email, just make sure to state that you have done so on the form and name your discord handle in the email as well to make things easier for our mods. Our email can be found in our carrd
Hi! I know that three submissions are required for writers. Is there a benefit to submitting five? The other longer pieces I have are still WIPs that aren't in a good draft state yet.
Hello! The optional extra samples are so that our mod team might get a better understanding of how your write. If you feel the three samples are sufficient in showing of your skills, submitting three is completely alright.
Hi! For work samples, I have a story that is tangentially BG3 related (my Tav's backstory) but doesn't directly mention any BG3 characters or locations. It's more based in D&D lore than anything. Is that alright to submit as a work sample?
Hello! We apologize for the late response, but yes you can indeed submit your Tav's backstory!
Hi! I'm super excited to apply, but I wanted to ask for some clarification on the pinch hitter question. If we select yes would we only be applying for a pinch hitter position, or is it an "in case you are not offered a spot right away" option? Thanks in advance!!
We're glad to hear that you're excited! And it is meant as "in case you are not offered a spot right away"! 🩷
How do I upload pdf files in your form? There's no button that lets you upload it that I can find, can you plaese add one so we can add pdfs the way you say we can?
You just have to share the link for the docs or pdf rather than upload it as a file :)
Authors are supposed to submit samples of 1.5k words. How much wiggle room is there? If someone submits a piece that's 1.2k words or 1.8k words for example, is that acceptable?
We would prefer that the samples are undee 1.5k. These need not be finished stories and can be an excerpt of a larger work. Something less than 1.5k is fine, but it needs to be sufficiently long that we get an impression of how you write.
Hi! When will mod applicants know if they've been accepted?
Hello! We will be reaching out to mod applicants sometime at the end of this week 🩷
Hi! Are nsfw pieces okay for portfolio samples even though the zine will be sfw?
For the submitted samples we would prefer SFW (artistic nudity and mild violence is fine) art, but it is completely fine if your portfolio includes more explicit stuff
Can we still apply to contribute if we missed the interest check?
Yes! You absolutely can 🩷 the interest check was merely to see how many might be interested in the project. Our Mod applications are currently open, and our contributor applications will open on the 28th of October, and we'll make sure to give ample reminders before we close the application forms.
in regards to your faq, which states " Our application form will require people to fill out which characters they’d be comfortable drawing or writing for, which requires at least 4 different characters, with a minimum of one being an NPC." does that mean that the contributor is not the one who'll choose which character they'll make art/write for in the end? like, we state the characters we'd make something for and then the mods are the ones who decide? just asking for clarification!
Hello! Yes, given that a character will only be featured in the zine a limited number of times (3 for origin companions, 2 for default durge and regular companions, 1 for each npc featured) we have to decide who creates what for who, so we don't end up with too many artists and writers for one character and none for another. Merch artists, however, have no such restrictions, though for that we do still want some degree of even content, at least for the main companions
